Methodology
Holiday hours come from four sources, in priority order:
- Official chain data — store-finder APIs and official announcements, cited with a source link.
- Published sources — press releases and retailer communications, extracted with AI and reviewed.
- Verified business submissions via our claim-a-listing program.
- Typical patterns derived from government holiday calendars and historical data — always labelled as estimates.
Every entry carries a last verified date and a quality tier: Official, Editorial, Estimate, or AI-extracted. Rows that two independent sources agree on are upgraded to Official; conflicting rows are held for review. A weekly automated pipeline re-runs the scrapers and a freshness SLA flags any chain hours older than 30 days that fall due before an upcoming holiday.
Holiday dates are computed from official calendars (aggregated via Nager.Date and Google Calendar, CC BY 4.0) plus our own date rules for movable holidays such as Easter and lunar festivals.
Because hours can change without notice, always confirm with the venue before travelling.
